AYURVEDA
Ayurveda is the sacred, earth-embracing legacy of the seer poets of Ancient India.
Ayurveda means, “Wisdom of Life” and gives us the healing information to sustain strong health, in mind, energy and body. Knowledge of Ayurveda helps us to understand our individual nature and learn how to maintain harmony within ourselves and with others.
The body of knowledge ayurveda comes from is called Veda. Sri Chinmoy, a seer poet of modern times, in his book, the “Vedas, Upanishads & Bhagavad Gita”, writes this beautiful poem explaining the Vedas.
According to Ayurveda there are Five Great Elements -
Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth - that govern the universe and manifest in each person as the three “Doshas”:
Vata, Pitta and Kapha
Vata with its elements of Ether and Air governs movement.
Pitta has the transforming principle and elements of Fire and Water.
Kapha gives stability and has the elements of Water and Earth.
According to Ayurveda if we live our life mindful of these doshas in our body, since in each of us resonates the greater whole, through processes of cleansing, nurturing and empowering at deep and subtle levels, we can maintain a harmonious balance or recover lost balance.
Ayurveda offers an individualized support system for true living in Love and Light.
